Ecuador is unique in the world, with its deep Amazonian rainforests, sparkling green highlands spiked with snow-capped volcanoes, and the world-famous archipelago of the Galápagos Islands lying off its coast. This epic journey brings together the best cultural and natural history treasures of Ecuador, beginning with a visit to the Upper Amazon at beautiful Sacha Lodge, located in a 3,000-acre private ecological reserve. Our adventure then brings us out to the fascinating Galápagos, where we cruise by small, luxurious sailing yacht and hike the trails of Darwin’s enchanted islands amid colonies of extraordinary wildlife. In the wonderful setting of a historic hacienda nestled in the mountains’ highlands, we find the perfect place for hiking and discovering the rich cultural traditions of the high Andes.

We meet in Quito, Ecuador’s highland capital.
A flight over the Andes brings us to remote Sacha, Ecuadors premier wildlife lodge and the ultimate spot for exploring Amazonia. With professional naturalist guides, we drift down winding creeks in hand-carved dugout canoes, birdwatch from the top of a 135-foot rainforest tower, walk a breathtaking canopy walkway 90 feet above the ground for a birds-eye view of the forest, and visit the flying room of a butterfly aviary where 40 local species are bred including spectacular blue morphos. Return to Quito in the afternoon on Day 5.
Flying to the Galápagos, we board our luxurious yacht and cruise island to island for hikes with our expert naturalist guide on North Seymour, Plazas, Española, Floreana, and Santa Cruz. See the Galápagos Adventure for cruise details. Return to Quito on Day 10.
Up in Ecuador’s mountain highlands, we roam the famous market at Otavalo, with its traditional crafts, then head to Hacienda Zuleta, a 300-year-old working farm open to a limited number of visitors. We enjoy hikes, interactions with the Zuleteño people, and the comfort of a charming and historic hacienda. After a final morning to explore the highlands, return to Quito and depart on Day 14.
